When I told my managers at My Previous Employer that I was leaving, I think that Tim DeWees took my resignation personally. Now he is harassing me.
When I had officially been hired, I posted a journal entry about that (as many would). I had a link to the web page of My Previous Employer. Well, the next day, Tim DeWees asked that I remove it. I wasn't told why, and I really don't see what harm it could have caused and I found the whole thing to be rather confusing, but I removed it. Who needs a confrontation over something silly?
A few days later, Tim brought up the issue again, telling me to remove references to MIS. Well, I figured that he thought the link was still up, but I checked it, and it was not. So no big deal, right?
So today, he contacts me over ICQ and was insinuating the use of legal action against me because of my online journal. This is the first time I discovered the particular entry he was talking about. He was upset because I used a three letter acronym to refer to My Previous Employer. So he wants to sue me over three capital letters.
I do not like being threatened and harassed. This is, after all, my own journal. As far as I am concerned, nobody would know that these three letters refer to My Previous Employer. Secondly, I was not using any proper names, so noone would be personally identifiable. Thirdly, I gave away no references to the products the company offers or any trade secrets. So, in all, there is no way for anyone to associate any of the information in that post to My Previous Employer or anyone affiliated with it.
Personally, I don't think that Tim and his legal threats have any basis at all whatsoever. I fully believe that he feels slighted by my leaving, so he found my journal and ran through it, looking for information that he can use to harass me. From what I have heard from others, this is not the first time he has done such a thing.
It is this kind of bullying behavior, more than anything else, that made me look elsewhere for work.
Dear Tim: Stop being childish and petty. I thought you were a better person than that, but you have proved me wrong and disappointed me once again. Behavior like yours only makes people want to quit. You had best be careful, or you will be left with no employees at all. Shame on you. I do not wish to have any contact with you in any form at any point in the future; Any attempts at contact will be ignored.
To my friends at My Previous Employer: Thank you all for making more than two years of my life bearable. I couldn't have lasted nearly as long without you guys. You rock.
